Upgrading Video Recording Unit Project

Upgrading, data transfer, and back up project of video recording unit begins.  Video input adapter - Hi-Speed USB - External and Video Pad Editor options.  Transfer all recording, editing and rendering options to Power Point / Sunday Plus (praise lyrics software) machine.  It will be one machine to handle visual aid software.  We should keep the legacy machine as a foundation to learn how to stream content live

Taking a mpg file about 1 hour recorded takes 40 minutes to render into a DVD video
Taking a mpg video and extract the audio as a mp3 audio takes ? minutes to process

3.       Sermons Series or 1 sermon with music
Lets see if the past sermon series January or February can be placed on 1 DVD for each month. There have been request of the music too, but recently started to place music with the sermons. More music on the DVDs, less room for the sermons. So, must create different versions with either all the series per month on one DVDs or 1 Sermon per 1 DVD with music

Adding content to Joomla Page

Its pretty easy to add content on the Joomla pages, the hard part is remembering how to add a section for variety of sub groups in the church to add from.  Today, I got the sign ministry with sub categories for SOME and Devotion to appear correctly on the church web site.  I just need to document the steps to do so.  Unless Joomla pages already have a section on adding content to their web pages.

1) Log into the Joomla administration page
2) Select Menus -> Top Menu
Note: The major Top Menu items are "HOME, ABOUT US, MINISTRIES, RESOURCES, CALENDAR, CONTACT US, GALLERY"
3) When you create an Article Layout, the Parent Items Details determines where menu selection will show on the front page.
4) Under Content, add or  create an Article
5) Under Content, Add a section
6) Under Content, Add a category
7) Use Menu Item Manager to have a menu available on the front page

In general terms, a sound engineer is someone responsible for some aspect of the sound at live shows. Many people think of the sound engineer as the person who stands behind the big sound desk (aka mixing desk) at a show and mixes the sound the audience hears, also known as front of house (FOH) sound. There are other roles for sound engineers at shows.

[retest] Attempting to access Content Management System from home, but probably a setting is not done right.  Do not forget to set the gateway on the server using the CMS.  Need to test it with others willing to put in the IP address.

[Diagnostic] Wifi internet connection drops in and out
[Diagnostic] If there is no wifi signal, there will be a i8042prt buffer overflow and the ps2 mouse will freeze from time to time.  Disable the wifi connection on the computer.
[Improving Wifi Strength]  The encryption must be disabled from access point, move access point away from computer screen, radio and ssid must be broadcast, and keep sending pings to a random internet address.

[Tested] Wireless Bridge with Belkin and Netgear router and it works.
Configuring two routers as one acts as the access  point and the other access as a repeater bridge

In this example, the netgear router was acting as the Access Point / Wireless Base Station while the Belkin router was acting as the repeater.  The Access Point and Repeater must have the same channel and same encryption protocol to be able to communicate.

8:00 PM, reported no internet connectivity since noon on Monday. Restarted routers and still no connection. Need to stop by in the morning to more checking.

hard drive crash - LOADING PBR FOR DESCRIPTOR 2 DONE disk error occured

This blog entry is to document the steps to retrieve data from a crashed hard drive. The data contained within is important to the church operations and ministries. There is no rush to obtain the data because they had previous files backed up available elsewhere. This is the timeline of events about this hard drive crash.

Please note, I am using two Dell PC from church. First Dell PC is from children's church that was recovered. After testing, it does not boot properly and currently using it as parts. Second Dell PC is from church clerk office which had a hard drive failure due a pressumed power spike. Hard drive prevents computer from booting properly and must be replaced.

So, the solution is to take the First Dell PC working parts and place it in the Second Dell PC by replacing the hard drive and adding a duel head graphic card. Please see solution section for results.

Finally, some time to preform IDE diagnostic test (press F-12 on Dell Dimension 3000) .
Unable to boot into hard drive using Bart PE.
Used Bart PE to test the networking capabilites of computer
Replacing hard drive with First Dell PC into Second Dell PC *crosses fingers*
Identical machines should have little complaints of hardware compatibility

Testing environment before refreshing of Sunday Plus machine in production.

SMTP, Unix, Database, and web design

Need to come up with a way to allow SMTP outbound mail but still prevent someone from sending out SPAM. Need someone with Unix, database and web design experience for a project.
